Long term vision

The UAE Centennial 2071 sets a course for the UAE to be the world’s leading country by 2071. It will invest and build around the four core aspects of education, economy, government development and community cohesion to foster an environment for exponential growth.

This is a highly ambitious plan, but one Dubai is conscientiously working towards achieving. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the project is a seed that the UAE has planted with the aim that future generations will reap the benefits.

The emirate today is a global hub for business and the future economy, and a magnet for the world’s brightest minds, who come here to launch initiatives, explore the challenges of the future and convert them into opportunities for sustainable development. Our government institutions have also become centres of excellence in foreseeing the future.

Dubai is deeply aware that innovation should be ingrained into the way the government thinks, operates and delivers services that empower both citizens and residents.

Dubai 10X is the embodiment of this spirit, seeking to establish ‘X Labs’ in every government entity in a bid to position Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities around the world in areas such as technology, government services, healthcare and education. The Dubai Plan 2021 seeks to bolster the city’s role as a global hub for business, underpinned by an aggressive economic diversification strategy, a future-proof innovation agenda and socio-economic development initiatives.

Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030 aims to establish the city as a knowledge-based, sustainable and innovation-centric global hub.

Another project the rest of the world has its eyes on is the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy. Under this strategy, Dubai aims to produce an ambitious 75% of its energy requirements from clean sources by 2050. The strategy also aims to make Dubai a global centre of clean energy and green economy.

In early 2019, the city announced plans for the Dubai Future District, the region’s largest district dedicated to developing the new economy and a dedicated US$272 million fund, unrivalled financing and legislative facilities and options to support new economy companies.

The city is now on its path to achieve a goal of US$544 billion in non-oil foreign trade by 2025 through continuous development of all its logistical, legislative and service tools, in addition to new international partnerships.
